Sooo...I guess we spoke too soon...the transition to the big girl bed did not go as smoothly as we thought. All of a sudden, Thursday night Abigail started crying hysterically, calling out for us. We did the typical check ins to make sure she was ok, but then all of a sudden she climbed out of her bed and booked it for the stairs looking for us. Since then, she will not stay in her bed or sleep in her room by herself. We've tried (what seems like) everything we can think of. She seems terrified, but we have no idea why. It's heartbreaking. Abigail is not just crying...she is completely hysterical, clinging to us and begging us not to leave.
The only thing that keeps her calm is if one of us sleeps in there with her. Not just in the same room, but in the same bed. We put her on our floor. Nope! Not unless we wanted to sleep on the floor too! We even tried pushing two twin beds together in her room. Not good enough! She has to sleep in the exact same bed, nuzzled under our chin. Adorable yes....at 3 in the morning...not quite...and pregnant....hmmmm....that twin bed is getting smaller and smaller!!
She's also become scared to ride in the car and only wants to stay home. She cries and cries every time we get in the car. It is so heartbreaking:( We're wracking our brains to try and figure it out or come up with a better solution. While sleeping in her bed is not ideal in the least, we are just relieved that she seems happy and comforted. We know this is a phase and will eventually pass. Hopefully sooner rather than later!!!
