Happy 21 Months, Little Love!!!

Abigail is 21 months old!!! Her mom and I really cannot believe how big she is getting. Just recently, we were watching a video from shortly before her surgery. In the video, her hair is short, she is a lot skinnier, and she just looks so much smaller. That was only 4 months ago.
When I look at Abigail now, I see a little kid. I am not sure when she went from a baby to a toddler, but it seems like she has flown through the toddler stage and is now a little kid. She still wears size 4 diapers and 12-month clothes, but both are getting much more snug on her. Her shoe size is 4.5, but she will need size 5 soon. She hasn't been to the doctor in a while, thank goodness, so we don't know her exact weight. However, based on our bathroom scale, she weighs 24.5 lbs. Such a big girl!

Abigail is talking a lot. She is doing great saying Mama, Dada, Nana, and Meme. When you ask her her name, she says either "Abi" or "Abba". Just the sweetest. She is also improving on G-Dad and Granddad. She is really trying to expand her vocabulary lately. Some new words and phrases are "I'm stuck," "Mailman," "go," "hi," "good girl," "Hi Dad," and "umbrella," "airplane," "bye bye," "golf cart,"trash truck," and "baby." I am sure I am forgetting a few as she is learning new words every day. When I get home from work, Stephanie will try and get Abigail to tell me what word or phrase they have been working on. Sometimes I understand and sometimes I have no clue. Either way, it is great to see her try.
Our summer continues to fly by. We are trying to get outside and enjoy the warm weather as much as possible. Abigail loves to go to the many playgrounds in our area or head to the pool. She really is fearless in the water. Abigail will not hesitate to jump right into the pool or lake, regardless if we are ready to catch her or not. We definitely have to keep a close eye on her.

One of Abigail's newest obsessions is bows. Hence all of the bows in the pictures. This is not her mother's doing (for once!). She doesn't exactly like to wear them (despite her mother's persistence!); rather, she likes to play with them. Abigail doesn't keep them in her hair for long, but she loves to switch one bow for another. Her hair is getting so long so she certainly needs a clip to keep the hair out of her eyes. Her mother is hopeful that Abigail will start wearing them again. Especially since we have A LOT of them!

Another newish development with Abigail is how good she is at putting herself to sleep. We still have a nap routine and a nighttime routine. However, the length of time we spend trying to put Abigail down has decreased dramatically. Abigail is almost always awake when we put her down and she only cries occasionally. Usually, she will just put herself to sleep after flopping around her crib for a little while (I am typing this with my fingers crossed so that I don't jinx us). This new development has certainly helped with the sanity of Abigail's parents.

Abigail, you continue to grow up so fast. You are such a fun and happy little girl. You constantly have your mom and I either saying how cute or how funny you are. We love you so much. No matter how big you get, you will always be our baby girl!
