Our Baby Is 1!!

One year ago today, we welcomed our precious baby boy, Colby Bennett. It was a day of such happiness and excitement. Our family became complete.  We could not feel more blessed. To try and describe how incredible this little boy is is impossible.  He has brought so much joy to our family. He is simply precious. We have felt so emotional this week at the thought of our baby turning one (ok...mostly me!). I'm not sure why. Maybe it's because he's our last?? No more babies:(

At one year (eeekkkkk!!), Colby weighs 20lbs 8.3oz (37th percentile) and is 28.75" inches tall (11th percentile. Same as Abigail was at 1 year!!). Colby's beautiful noggin is 18.5 inches (76th percentile. Pretty much same as Abigail too!). Colby is in 9 month clothing and size 3 diapers so we're guessing he's on the shorter side!! ;-) Colbs also has 8 teeth! At 1 year, Abigail weighed 18lbs (23rd percentile) and is 28 3/4 inches tall (33rd percentile). Abigail's noggin was 18 inches (93rd percentile). Funny how Colby and Abigail were about the same height and had the same head circumference at 1 year, but had very different percentiles! At 1 year, Abigail wore size 6 month clothes and size 1-2 diaper.

Colby is still a crawling (and climbing, getting into EVERYTHING!!!) bambino. Colin and I were shocked! We thought for sure he was going to walk for the past 2 months now, but he is totally fine with just crawling!  That is just fine with Colin and I!! Take your time, buddy!! Unlike Abigail, Colby doesn't really like to hold onto our fingers and walk. Our backs thank you, Colbykins!! Rather, Colby grabs onto anything and everything and walks holding onto that! It's so cute! Chairs, walkers, pack n play....anything that can slide a bit...Colby will grab onto and start walking! So if you ever come over and see chairs in the hall...you know how they got there;-)

Although Colby is not quite walking, we thought we'd go ahead and get him some shoes (mainly to keep him from pulling off his socks while we're out!!!). Colby now wears a size 4 shoe. Love his adorable, chunky little piggies<3

Colby and his sweet sister, Abigail...where do we begin?? When I was pregnant with Colby, Colin and I both worried about what it would be like for Abigail and how would she like being a big sister. (Like most parents, we would assume!!) Abigail has been incredible! Way better than we ever could have imagined! The bond between Abigail and Colby is just precious. Even the mention of Abigail (Colby calls her Ada), sends Colby into squeals<3 They play together SOOO well!! Abigail talks to Colby like she would any of her friends and it seems like Colby understands!! Abigail is so protective of Colby and she really helps us to keep an eye out for him and make sure that he is behaving himself!! Colby has been known to be a sneaky boy!! Getting into cords, taking off vents, climbing on the fireplace...little stinker!! Colin and I are so incredibly blessed to have 2 precious children that love and care for each other. We can only hope this bond is unbreakable and will last a lifetime<3

Colby loves to play with his wonderful sister, but he is also excellent at playing by himself! He can entertain himself quite well, which is wonderful!! Of course, he always seems to want my attention is I'm ever trying to get something done haha!! Isn't that always the case?!? Colby loves any and all toys: cars, dolls, tea sets....Colby really loves musical toys and stuff he can put in his mouth (ie EVERYTHING!!).  Colby is an expert at going down the slide. He can climb up and slide down all by himself! Even at the playground! Of course you have to keep a close eye on him because he'll either A. Try and eat something he should be (mulch, sticks...) or B. Try and do a flying leap off of the side!!

Colby LOVES bath time! We just mention the word "bath" and Colby is all over it!! Colby and Abigail love talking a bath together. Makes life much easier on us!! They could play in there for hours!!

Colby is a HUGE rocker!! If he's happy, he rocks (LOVES the vacuum and hair dryer!!). If he's upset, he rocks. He wakes up, he rocks. We never know where the crib is going to be when we go in to get him because he rocks so much that the crib moves around! Unfortunately, he also likes to bang his head:( He doesn't seem to bang his head quite as much as he used to, but .....

Colby is an excellent eater! He will try pretty much anything! He doesn't always like everything, but at least he's willing to try. Right now, Colby loves lasagna, zucchini cheesy pasta, oatmeal date cookies I make, pouches, peanut butter sandwiches, Ella's bars, yogurt, fruit, fruit and more fruit!! Colby LOVES fruit!! He will pretty much eat any type of fruit. He pretty much has to have fruit at every meal!! Colby is a messy eater! He loves to put his food in his hair! Thank goodness he likes to take a bath!!

Colby is a chatter. He says Mama, Dada, Ada...he just said baby a few days ago. He can imitate a lot of the sounds you make. He loves any noises you make with your mouth, especially toot noises! Boys!!!

Colby LOVES to brush his teeth!! We remember Abigail hating it, so this is a nice change!!

Colby loves to make us laugh!! Especially Abigail!! If any of us starts smiling or laughing...watch out!! It's comedy time!!

Colby is a snuggle bug<3 Please please please don't ever change that sweet boy!! Whenever Colby is fussy or wants to be picked up, he comes over to us and crawls in our lap, puts his head down on our shoulder, puts his thumb in his mouth and gives us the biggest hug with the other hand, while he rubs the back of our head with the other hand. It is just the sweetest. It's something I think the both of us will remember forever<3 One of my other favorites is at night....I nurse Colby while we all read a story. After our story and singing songs, I carry Colby into his room while singing You Are My Sunshine. While I'm singing, Colby looks straight into my eyes and sucks his thumb. It makes my heart melt every single night. Goodness, I love this sweet boy<3

Colby, you are so incredibly precious to us! We love you more and more everyday. We are so thankful to have you as our sweet baby boy!! We hope you have the BEST 1st birthday!! We love you SOOO much!!! Happy Birthday, Colbykins!!
