Memorial Day Weekend

Every year for Memorial Day, Colin and I go to the lake to visit with my parents. Last year, our sweet Abigail joined us in our fun tradition for the first time. Last year was very special and this trip was definitely one of our favorites. It was SO awesome! We all had a blast!!!
Snackin while getting her baby suit on (That's what I called it when I was younger. Haha!)

As soon as we arrived, we could tell Abigail was so excited to be somewhere new and different. It was a whole new place to explore. And boy did she! We don't think there was a spot in (or out of) the house untouched by Abadabs' chubby little hands:-) After a delicious lunch, we headed down to the water. Abigail started crying when we got in the car because she was having so much fun at the house, she didn't want to leave! Luckily she was super happy when she arrived at the pavilion. MORE fun things to explore!!!

Exciting news....Abigail said Dada for the first time!!! Yay!!!! Made all of us melt:-)
We weren't really sure what to expect at the lake. Last year, Abigail wasn't old enough to play in/near the water so she pretty much stayed in her baby pool or on the deck. As soon as we set our chairs down, Abigail made a bee line for the lake. There are three steps that lead down to the water...Abigail started making her way down. Unfortunately, her incision is still open so she couldn't go fully in the water... otherwise, we think she would have taken a dive right in! Of course she wanted to go into the lake that has goodness know what in it, but a baby pool filled with purified water that she could go in??? No thanks! Ha!

After lunch on Saturday (the day we got there), we took Abigail down to the lake for just bit. We didn't bother putting on her bathing suit because she was going to be taking a nap in just a few minutes. Apparently that didn't stop this little girl from getting in the water!

Nana bought Abigail some cute stackable cups and little floaty animals that Abigail LOVED! Abigail had such a fun time playing on the bottom step with her toys. She REALLY wanted to get in the water, so eventually Colin held her and went in the water so that her incision didn't get wet. She seemed to love it!

Having a blast with her cups!

                                                                               Family Pics:-)

Checking out the fishies with G-dad:-)

Hanging with Nana. If you look at her mouth, you can see she's saying "hot"! So cute!
Loving this bathing suit Nana got for her! It covers her scar perfectly. Adorable and functional!
Fun with Daddy:-)
Of course you have to blow bubbles at the lake!

Awwww........

Going to feed the duckies with Mommy:-)
Playing with Daddy:-)
Love this picture! You can see them all laughing and having a good 'ol time!
We always eat delicious food while we're at the lake. This time was no exception. Nana and G-dad fixed us a yummy seafood feast on Saturday night. One of our favorites!!! On Sunday, Colin and I fixed some burgers and then we celebrated Nana's birthday with a decadent chocolate cake. We also whipped up our traditional, big breakfast feast with Mimosas, of course!
G-dad made this rock bed where one of his outdoor games go...Abigail LOVED it! All those rocks!!!

G-dad and Colin grilled up some breakfast for us. Yum!
This girl spent lots of time in these rocks!
The lake was so fun and relaxing. It was a perfect vacation! We were so sad to leave! Thank you so much for having us, Nana and G-dad!!! We can't wait to come back!!!

Happy 18 Months, Little Love!!!

Our little girl is a year and a half!!! Oh my! Big girl!!! This month she really seems like a toddler. Abigail has matured SO much, which probably has a lot to do what how much she has gone through. Abigail understands SO much! We can sit and have "conversations" together and she pretty much understands most of what you are saying. Our little grown up!
At 18 months, Abigail weighs 21.10 lbs (35th percentile) and is 31.5 inches tall (38th percentile). Her noggin is still going strong in the 92nd percentile at 19 inches:-) Abigail is wearing anything from size 6 month clothing to size 12 month clothing, just depends on what it is. Most of what she wears is 9 months, but she definitely has a few 12 months, which is quite a jump! Someone hit their growth spurt this month! Abigail seems as though she has a very long torso, so if it's a romper, she's in 12 months. If it's pants, she's in 9 months; otherwise it will slide right off of that tuckus! Abigail wears size 3 diapers during the day and size 4 diapers at night. Abigail drinks A TON of milk before she goes to bed so we need the jumbo size to hold all of that fluid in!!! Abigail also went from a size 4 shoe to a 4.5.
Wearing her stethoscope, of course!
It has been a little over a month size Abigail had open heart surgery. You would NEVER know it just by looking at her, except for her scar. She is a bundle of energy....running around, playing like crazy. Abigail loves to be outside. Our neighbors always comment that we live outside! Her favorite things to do outside are swing (duh!), blow bubbles, play with her rocks, chalk, paintbrushes and play with the soccer ball. We just got her a soccer ball a couple of weeks ago. (Hot pink, of course!) At first, she carried it around the whole time, but now she is learning how to kick it. Every time she kicks it, she looks at us and claps! So proud of herself!

Abigail is obsessed with trucks and cars. She gets so excited whenever she sees a truck. She points and "screams." Abigail definitely knows the difference between a truck and a car. Abigail also recognizes Jeep Wranglers and she can tell you which car is Mommy's, Daddy's and Nana's. Wonder where she gets her love of automobiles from?!? Hmmmm....

Abigail has been talking more recently. She still isn't talking a ton, but what she doesn't say, she can sign. It's rare that we don't know what she wants. Currently, she says mom, dad, outside, what's that, all done and hot. She tries to say truck. Other than mom and hot, it seems she's skipped over the basic words and went straight to two word phrases and a compound word??? Whatever she says, we love to hear her little voice. It is so cute!!!
I wish we could zoom in on this picture....her face is adorable!!! A lot of times when we give Abigail a bottle of milk, she will go to the playroom and sit and relax on her bean bag while she drinks. So sweet:)
As we said earlier, Abigail understands most of what we say and can perform simple commands. She recognizes (and can hand you) about 10-15 fruits and veggies and several animals. She knows most of her body parts and can do the movements to lots of songs. She loves helping to dress and undress herself. As long as they are in reach, she can retrieve most items of clothing for herself and you if you ask! Dad is thinking of working on teaching Abigail how to get him an adult beverage...haha!
Abigail was eating really well when we got back from the hospital. Her eating has definitely slowed down again, pretty much back to what it was before maybe a little better. She'll eat as long as she is moving and grooving. Abigail is a huge drinker. We feel like we are constantly buying more and more milk. We are so curious to see her stats because it sure seems like she has gained a lot of weight!
Love that smile!!!
Abigail is still obsessed with G-dad's iPad. She asks for it CONSTANTLY. Right now her favorite is The Mother Goose Club. She enjoys singing and clapping along to all of the songs. It's adorable! Another favorite is still the vacuum and mop. Abigail is a cleaning machine! Two other favorites are the grocery cart and her train, which she can now get on/off and move it herself. Crazy! It doesn't seem like that long ago we had to pick her up to put her on it!

Abigail is sleeping really well right now. She currently sleeps for about 10-10.5 hours at night and then takes one nap for about an hour and a half to two and a half hours. We've come a LONG LONG way!!!

It has been such a fun month. We love and appreciate this little girl more and more every day. Abigail is such a funny girl. She keeps us smiling and laughing constantly. We love her BIG personality!!! We love you so so so much, Abigail!!! Happy 18 Months, sweet baby girl! :)

Bubbles!!!

Auntie Anna gave Abigail this Doc McStuffins bubble medical kit. Abigail is obsessed with it. She LOVES the bubbles and now she is obsessed with wearing this stethoscope around. Colin said "Maybe Abigail will be a doctor or a nurse. Or maybe a professional bubble blower." Haha

At least she would be the cutest bubble blower:-)
We can't believe that just one month ago today, this sweet little girl underwent open heart surgery. It is just incredible how quickly she has bounced back. Today is also our adorable nephew's 1st birthday. Happy Birthday, Clark!!!

Fun With Family

We had a great, long weekend! Colin took off work on Friday because Uncle Jay and Auntie Anna came to visit! Yay! Love three day weekends! Both of them recently graduated. (Auntie Anna got her Master's in Social Work and Uncle Jay got his Bachelor's in Computer Science. We are SO proud of both of them!!!) We weren't able to attend graduation, so it was so nice to be able to catch up and hear all about what's been going on. Abigail quickly warmed up to the both of them and was leading them all around in no time!
Showing Auntie Anna all of her toys!

Uncle Jay teaching Abigail some soccer moves and, of course, grocery shopping too!!!

Honk honk!
Good conversation:)

So cute!
We had a bite to eat and then headed to our neighborhood playground. We had a blast!
                                                                  Some fun on the rockers!

Fun with Daddy! Uncle Jay would rock all the way back and Abigail would "help" Uncle Jay get up:)

On Saturday morning, we had to make a trip to the hospital because Abigail's incision was infected. Abigail's body did not absorb one of the stitches and apparently it was trying to poke through, causing her incision to become inflamed. As soon as we walked in the hospital, Abigail became hysterical. Abigail was crying so hard she threw up:( The doctors had to open up the bottom part of her incision and remove one of the stitches. This poor girl has been through enough! Thank goodness we were able to see her surgeon and another doctor we LOVED, so at least we were in the best of hands!

After a rough morning, we were SUPER excited to see Meme and Granddad!!! Yay! We love it when they come to visit! Abigail was thrilled to be able to show them all of the new and fun things she likes and is able to do!
Abigail loves for you to surround her in the pillows and then when you say "Where's Abigail??" she breaks through!
"Peep eye!"
Abigail ate half of Meme's salad toppings before we even sat down for lunch!

Auntie Teresa got Abigail this adorable dress. Abigail decided she wanted to try it on! Silly girl! Thank you, Auntie Teresa!!!
Meme brought one of Colin's and I's MOST favorite desserts. Sooo yummy! What a great surprise! Colin, Abigail and I might have sat on the kitchen floor with a spoon and took turns having bites:-) After lunch, we headed to the playground. It was a beautiful day! It was so nice to be outside!

So cute!
"Weeeeee!!!"

Abigail loves to run back and forth on this bridge
Love this picture! So sweet!
How cute is this picture?!? Precious!
Feeding the fishies. Well....we were feeding the fishies...Abigail was feeding herself!
On Sunday, I went to one of my best friend's baby shower. It was so fun to spend time with friends and the mama to be! We are so happy for them and can't wait to meet the little guy:) Congratulations, Heather and Tommy!!!

We had such a nice weekend. Thank you so much to our family for coming to see us! We loved seeing you guys! We can't wait to see you all soon!!!
