Heart Ball 2018

We were very honored when the American Heart Association asked Abigail and Colby to be the faces of heart for 2018. Every year, the American Heart Association has a Heart Ball where they try to raise money and awareness to fight against congenital heart disease.

Before the Heart Ball, people from the American Heart Association came over and spent the day with us filming. We were SO nervous!!! We had no idea what to expect. It went so much better than we ever thought! It wasn't nearly as scary as we were picturing haha! Definitely different than what we're used to though! They had all of these lights and cameras....they even powdered our noses haha! The film that they took that day was used to create a video to be played at the Heart Ball. Following the video, we were asked to make a speech (which I kindly nominated Colin for the job😉You can see the video here:

Password: Heart

The Heart Ball was this past Saturday, the 24th. We had such an amazing time! There were over 500 people there. We, of course, were very nervous but also very excited. Abigail and Colby did great!! Well...mostly great. Before getting on stage, Colin and I thought Colby would be very scared and timid. Ummm....nope!! Couldn't be further from the truth!! He walked right on up there and started singing, turning off the stage lights, pretending to be a cat....yep...no stage fright here!! Haha!

Abigail's and Colby's cardiologist was there as well as Colby's heart surgeon, which made the night even more special. We are forever grateful for them. We truly have the best medical team.

It was such an incredible night. We stayed up entirely too late, but it was worth every second. So many wonderful memories were made. Definitely a night we will always remember💕

Celebrating Our Baby Boy!!

We had so much fun celebrating our sweet little guy! His birthday started out a little different than planned. Abigail got up super early because she was soooo excited to give her little brother his presents and head out to Chuck E Cheese....BUT...when she came into our room we saw she had pink eye. Soooo....after we opened presents Abigail and I dashed off to the doctor because they wouldn't call in the eye drops without seeing her. Booooo!!!! So...3 hours later....Abigail and I made it back home!😒

We spent the rest of the day just hanging out and play playin. And then it was time for cake!! Whoop whoop!!

Please excuse the smudges on the cake. We weren't quick enough with the little hands!!

Happy Birthday dear Colby!!!!
Cute kiddos! By the middle of the day, quickly after the doctor the pink eye spread to the other eye. 😒

Eventually by the end of the long weekend we made it to Chuck E Cheese!! Party!! Both kiddos love it!! They were bouncing off the walls before we left just so giddy with excitement! Colin and I used to go here a lot as kids and loved it. We weren't sure what we would think as adults, but it is SO fun!! I think Colin and I sometimes get into the games more than the kids do! You should have seen us playing basketball haha! "Ahhh come on kids!! Just one more game!!"😉

Colby, we can't believe you are 2!! You are such a huge blessing in our lives. We love you more than you will ever know!! Happy 2nd birthday, sweet baby boy!!!💙

Happy 2nd Birthday, Sweet Baby Boy!!!

Happy 2nd Birthday, Colbykins!!!! Mommy, Daddy, and Abigail (Aba to you) love you so much! Time files when you are raising kids. It seems like just yesterday we were heading to the hospital for Mommy to deliver you. Now, every time I see you, I think you have grown a few inches. Our sweet, chubby little baby, turned into an adventurous toddler, and now has turned into a happy, energetic little boy.

At 2 years old, Colby weighs 24lb 5oz (19th percentile) and is 33.25 inches tall (13th percentile). Colby is in size 18 month tops, size 12 month bottoms and size 5 shoe. His 18 month tops are getting pretty short so he can/does wear some of his 2t shirts. His 12 month pants....they fit just fine! Guessing our cutie is still on the shorter side💙

Colby is so sweet and gentle natured. He loves to be held and cuddle. He'll say "hug" or "picky up" which is so adorable. As soon as we pick him up, he'll put his thumb in his mouth and start twirling my hair or his hair.

Colby loves loves loves his sweet big sister, Abigail! He follows her around pretty much everywhere! They are the best of friends about 60% of the time. The other 40% they driving each other nuts!!😒 They love to give each other hugs, but usually not at the same time. Abigail usually wants to hug Colby when he is jumping around and doesn't want to be held down. Colby usually wants to hug Abigail when she is in a mood and wants to be left alone. Go figure!
Recently they started playing house together. It's the cutest!! Colby is of course the baby and Abigail is the mommy. He sleeps in a box 😊Colin and I were LOVING it. First of all, it was super cute. Second of all, we fixed an ENTIRE, huge, delicious weekend-style breakfast without having to referee the two!!! Wahoo!!!

Colby is obsessed with babies!!! Every time we drop Abigail off at school, he immediately seeks out which babies are there and goes to play with them. He is always very concerned if they are crying. Colby is most obsessed with his adorable cousin, "baby Riley." Never just Riley. Always "baby Riley!" He asks to watch videos of baby Riley pretty much every day. Baby Riley and Ellie (Uncle Jay's dog). Whenever I have to take Colby to a doctor's appointment, I always make sure I have my baby Riley and Ellie videos ready to go!!

Colby is quite the talker. We are amazed at half of the things he says/knows. A few weeks ago Colby and I were waiting in line to pick up Abigail from preschool. Colby asked for his singing Rudolph. (Yes, Christmas has been over for a while but we can't seem to put the singing Rudolph away. Every time we sneak Rudolph down into the basement, he mysteriously reappears😕) Anyways....so Colby asked for his Rudolph and I said "Sorry buddy. It's not in here" and he said "Rudolph's probably in the Telsa!"😂

The most common phrase we hear from Colby is "Do it own!!" He says it several times a day. And we mean SEVERAL!! He LOVES to do everything on his own. Everything from washing his hands and getting in and out of his car seat to vacuuming, baking...you name it! Independent little guy💙

Colby loves typical "boy" things. Colby loves playing catch with balls, wrestling, jumping on trampolines...anything active!! But he also loves baby dolls, books (LOVES books!!), playing house, having tea parties...basically he's up for anything! He absolutely loves to be outside. He especially loves to go outside with Daddy and "dig for wormies." Colin digs for worms for our compost and Colby just loves to help. Colby came with me to one of my doctor's appointments and they had a huge decorative rock display. Colby immediately went over to the rocks and said "Dig for wormies. Dig for wormies!"

Colby loves music! He is becoming quite particular with his music. He loves fast songs and any kind of children's song. I think I sang "Oh Mr. Sun" 20 times in the car the other day! And if you add movements to the children's song.....he is all smiles!! Right now he is requesting Carrie Underwood (yes....he specifically asks for her) or one of our bazillion children's songs. Thankfully Abigail loves to sing and dance so she helps us to entertain him, especially in the car!!

Colby is a great eater most of the time. He will eat most of what Colin and I eat, except he doesn't like anything spicy (and I'm talking just a hint of spice) or spinach. Colin makes us spinach eggs a lot and we share with Colby. Every time Colin makes them, Colby makes sure to say "I don't like the spinach!!" just in case we forgot😉 Colby loves broccoli topped with butter and parmesan cheese. Sometimes when he doesn't want anything else to eat, that will be the one and only thing he'll eat! Well...other than candy and ice cream😉

Colby, Mommy and Daddy have loved you since we knew you were on the way. Having you in our lives has brought us such joy and has completed our little family. We wish you nothing but happiness on your 2nd birthday. We love you buddy!
