Memorial Day Weekend

We had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. We LOVE having Daddy home for an extra day!! We always love our family time<3

On Saturday, we had our annual neighborhood parade and picnic. It was SO fun! Abigail absolutely loved the pool and our girl still loves a good picnic:-) Colby enjoyed putting his feet in and, of course, he loved all of the action!

We took the kiddos back to the pool again on Sunday and then on Monday it was supposed to rain all day so we thought of surprising Abigail and taking her to Sweet Frog! Monday turned out to be a beautiful day and we spent most of it outside playing and going for walks. We still decided to surprise our baby girl and take her for some ice cream. Funny how I'm putting it all on Abigail like she's the only one who wanted ice cream:-) Haha. I wish you could have seen Abigail's face! She was running around singing and just so giddy with excitement. Such a sweet feeling as parents:-) Colby loved the Sweet Frog stuffed animal. He was going crazy!!! He kept smiling and trying to get the frog. It was hilarious!!

It was a beautiful weekend...gorgeous weather, special family time...it was the best! Thank you so so much to all of the men and women who have served and continue to serve our beautiful country!!!

Colby met his wonderful Aunt Linda!! She came and spent the day with us a few days ago and we all had so much fun! We could have chatted all day:-) Thank you so so much for coming!! We had such a nice time! Can't wait to do it again soon! :-)

12 years ago I met the man of my dreams and I married him 9 years ago today. I love this man more and more every day. Nothing makes me happier than waking up to my best friend and the love of my life. Happy Anniversary, Love!! I look forward to celebrating many, many more!! <3

Happy 3 Months, Sweet Baby Boy!!

Such a big boy!! How are you 3 months already?!? You went from this teeny tiny little boy to a scrumptious roly poly that we just can't get enough! Your face...where do we start?? Just so precious. We could kiss your head and those cheeks for hours on end (and we do!!).

At 3 months, Colby weighs about 13lbs (we don't have a wellness check until 4 months). Colby is in 3 month clothes and size 2 diapers. To compare....our little Abigail was 10lbs 14oz at 3 months, wore size 0-3 month clothing and newborn diapers! Quite a difference in size, although doesn't Abigail look bigger than Colby in her 3 month picture???

Colby's favorite thing to do right now is to be outside cruising around seeing what he can see in the Britax carrier. Whenever Colby is fussy, we just put him in the carrier and head out for a walk if the weather is cooperating, which has not been a whole lot recently!!! Go away rain!! We all like to be outside so we are so happy that Colby enjoys it as well!

Colby absolutely adores Abigail. He is constantly smiling at her and he finds her quite entertaining. No surprise there. We all find Abigail entertaining!! Haha! Abigail is so sweet with her baby brother. One of the recent things they enjoy doing together is jumping on Abigail's bed together. This is right up Colby's alley. Whenever you hold Colby and his feet are touching the ground, he is jumping! He is going to love the jumperoo when he gets a little older!

Not gonna lie...Colby is not the best sleeper.  He is a decent napper, but at night....not so much. Colby naps in 45 minute cycles pretty much right down to the minute. We read that is pretty typical of a baby's sleep cycle and boy does Colby follow it! We'll even take 45 minute night cycles at this point, but unfortunately we're getting a sweet baby boy who is up several times an hour. As we have mentioned, Colby has very bad acid reflux. We were hoping to "fix" it with dietary changes on my part but unfortunately we could not eliminate it entirely so we started Colby on his medication on Friday. It has helped tremendously as far as the acid reflux goes. Now if it can magically make our little guy sleep....

Colby has the sweetest smile. He gives you these huge full face smiles and it just melts your heart. He loves to "talk" to you. Don't even think about just putting him down and going about your business. Colby wants to be involved and interacted with, which we love. We have some of the best "conversations." :-)

You make us so incredibly happy, Colby Colbs!! You are so precious to us!! We love you so so so much!! Happy 3 months, baby boy!! xoxo

Happy Mother's Day!!

Colin and I truly believe we have the best moms in the world! If I can be half as good of a mom to our kiddos as our moms have been to us, then I think I'm doing pretty well! We are so incredibly blessed to have our moms in, not only, our lives but our kids lives as well. We love you both so so much!! Happy Mother's Day!! xoxo

Mornings With The Kiddos

Mommy takes night duty with Colby (thank you, thank you, thank you my love!!!). My small contribution is to take Colby whenever he wakes up for good, which is usually around 6:15. Abigail gets up at 8.  During the week, Stephanie uses her rare kids-free time to workout and shower/get ready for the day. Personally, there is no way I would have the discipline to get out of bed. On the weekends, Stephanie uses that time to try and make a small dent in her sleep deprivation. This means that I get a lot of quality time with the kiddos in the morning.

Before Abigail gets up, I get to hang out with my boy. He is usually a very happy baby in the morning when he first gets up. I get more smiles early in the morning than any other time. We typically either hang out in our room (during the week) or head down to the family room (on the weekend so Mommy can sleep).  So what do we do with our time? We like to open the blinds to let the morning light in, read about how the Nationals did the night before, and spend quite a while inspecting our favorite ceiling fans. Colby usually goes down for his first nap between 7:30 and 8.

Abigail typically wakes up promptly at 8 when her green light goes on. Recently, she has wanted to head down to the basement as soon as possible. On Sunday morning, I met Abigail at her door and, while rubbing the sleep out of her eyes, the very first thing she says is “Daddy, can we go play in the basement?” She couldn’t be any sweeter. I would keep her at this age forever if I could. Since I know she is growing up (too fast), I try to savor these moments as much as possible.

On the weekends, we try and let Mommy sleep in as long as possible. This means that Abigail and I usually get half an hour or more in the basement. When it is just the two of us, her favorite game is to have me push her in her “cool car” while we do lap after lap of the basement. Good cardio for Daddy! We listen for Colby on the monitor and, if he makes noise, she says “go back to sleep Colby!” so we can continue our laps.

However, if Colby does wake up, Abigail is very understanding. We either put Colby in the rock-n-play and keep doing laps or, if he is too fussy, I will carry him around while we chase Abigail in a game she calls Nascar (we all know where she got that from, G-dad). To play Nascar, Colby and I push Abigail’s pink bike while she pushes her Lamby in a shopping cart. We race laps and occasionally crash, which she finds hilarious.

Colby loves his big sister, Abigail. Colby typically smiles every time he sees her. So sweet.

We are always happy when Mommy wakes up as spending time with the whole family is my favorite thing in the world. However, I absolutely love the time I get to spend with Abigail and Colby in the morning. Getting one-on-one time with my kiddos while they are happy and playing is something that I will always cherish.

Dairy Free

I am trying a dairy free/soy free diet for a couple of weeks in hopes that it will help Colby's acid reflux. Abigail is super concerned about what I can and cannot eat! She was eating multicolored goldfish the other day and she told me that she was saving me all of the red ones because the red ones do not have any dairy in them because cheese is not red!!! Love the logic!! Love our sweet, caring and considerate little girl<3

Can't even look at this picture without smiling! It's a good thing this little guy is so cute! Mr. Colby has not been the best sleeper recently! It's bad. Up every hour bad. Ugh. It will pass like all phases. And I'll take my snuggles any way I can get them. Even if it's 3:00am:-)
