Big Weekend

Big weekend in the Harris household. Drum roll....we FINALLY got rid of the binks!!! Yes...finally! We have been talking about doing it for forever, but honestly...we were scared. She sleeps SO well (and so do we!!). We didn't want to ruin that for anyone! Several months ago, we took it away for nap time and she did great! She now sleeps with lamby lamb and loves it, but she LOVES the binkers way more. We talked to Abigail about getting rid of it for a while and every time it caused quite the meltdown, except for on Saturday. Abigail seemed ok with it. We made a BIG deal about her being a big girl and getting to pick a special treat at Target and she did it!! Without any tears too!! Soooo happy and proud of our big girl!!
We also decided to transition Abigail to a booster seat! Yay! She sat with us at the table for breakfast (without a booster seat) for a while and has done great. We could totally put her in a normal chair, but she is still just a little short for the table so the booster seat works great. And she LOVES it!! Abigail gets herself all settled in and will just wait for us at the table because she likes sitting in it so much! She even puts her napkin in her lap like we do. Love:-)

Our little girl is growing up!! Too quickly at that!! We love you, Abigail!!! Mommy and Daddy are SOOOO proud of you!!!

Tea Party!

Abigail loves to cook, both real and pretend. She has the BEST imagination!! We love how she "feeds" us what we each love: Colin: eggs and Mommy: cake!! We just love our tea parties!! Mr. Cow decided to join us today:-)

Van Dyck Park

I grew up in the City of Fairfax and one of the great memories I have from my childhood was going to Van Dyck Park, which was near my house. The park is off Old Lee Highway, right across the street from my elementary school (Layton Hall, now renamed Daniels Run). I remember that the park had some large slides, tons of swings, and a tilt-a-whirl. I remember playing on the grass tennis courts, flying kites in a field, and spinning on the tilt-a-whirl as fast as my brothers and I could go.

One warm Saturday morning, Stephanie, Abigail and I decided to go check out Van Dyck Park. It had probably been about 20 years since I last visited the park, but a lot of it still looked the same.

This car is new
Most importantly, Abigail seemed to really enjoy playing here. We spent a lot of time exploring the different equipment, but the swing is always one of Abigail's favorites. She did great on the "big girl" swing.

Such a big girl
We even found the old tilt-a-whirl that I remembered. Judging by the faded paint, it was probably the same one. Ever the daredevil, Abigail had no problem going for a whirl.

Is this an antique???

Sharing experiences from my wonderful childhood is one of my favorite things to do with Abigail. And when there is a beautiful woman hanging around too, I can't complain.

Life is good!

Ice Cream

We LOVE ice cream here over in the Harris household! Abigail has a sweet tooth just like her mama! Even Colin enjoys a bowl of ice cream every now and then. When we went to the lake the other weekend, we all went out for ice cream. G-dad got an ice cream cone and Abigail was just fascinated! We normally just get a cup. Less mess:-) She has been asking for one ever since.

We went out to dinner on Saturday night and ice cream was the perfect sweet ending. So we headed to McDonald's. It was Abigail's first visit! Side note....we were talking to her on the car ride over there telling her that we were going to McDonald's for ice cream....to which Abigail replied "No, there are going to be animals there." She thought we were talking about Old MacDonald's Farm!!! haha Colin and I couldn't stop laughing. It was so cute!
Abigail got a cone and Colin and I each got a hot fudge sundae. She did a pretty good job! The cone was fun for her at first, but I think she immediately regretted her choice after she had a couple of bites of our sundaes. Of course...it has chocolate:-)

4th of July Weekend

We went to Lake Anna for our annual 4th of July picnic. Yay! It was SO much fun! Since Friday was a holiday, we got to head out early and spend an extra long weekend at the lake. Love that!

We got there late Friday morning, just in time to get lunch together for a picnic down by the water. Just for Abigail!
Can you tell she's having a great time?!?
Abigail loves her G-dad!
Then it was time to head down to the water. Abigail is definitely a water baby! She is fearless! Eekk!
My loves:-)

She was being so silly and sticking her chair in the water!

She is just too cute! We could just eat her up!!

Cannot look at this picture without laughing!! Colin was imitating Abigail. Or maybe that's just how he smiles?!?:-)
So cute!
Our little swimmer!

She is all ready for a jet ski ride!!
Awwww...love you sweet baby girl!!
Saturday, the 4th, was the neighborhood picnic. Every year, Meme and Granddad, Kyle, Anna and Uncle Jay join us. It is the best! We have been doing this since Colin and I have been together (over 11 years!!). So much fun to have our families together!! So special! Uncle Jay was unable to make it this year. We missed you, Uncle Jay!!
Turtle time!!
Just chillin:-)
