Abigail's Cardiologist Appointment

Abigail had her one year post op appointment yesterday. Colin and I were, of course, nervous. Abigail normally has a complete meltdown and it is just so tragic for her. Not this time!! She did GREAT!! There were no tears AT ALL!! Wahoo!!!

They have these little cars attached to the doctor's table (pretty much like what they have on the grocery carts)...Abigail LOVED it!! Beep beep!!

When we first go back, they always do an EKG. For the past several visits, they have not been able to even get a reading because Abigail has been so hysterical and pulls off the wires 50 bazillion times. So this time, Colin and I asked if we can be the ones to put all of the stickers and wires on her. It worked!!! No tears and a great EKG!

Next they do an echocardiogram, which again, typically involves lots of screaming and holding her down. This time, she just laid on my lap while Colin dished out Cheez Its and jelly beans while she watched Elmo. It was just crazy how well she did!!

The doctor said everything looked great! Colin and I are SOO relieved!! We still have to keep a close eye on everything and make sure there are not any changes, but we do not have to go back for a year!! Yay!! Abigail was so incredibly brave today! We are SO SO proud of our big girl!

Mornings With Daddy

Every weekday morning, Colin and I get Abigail up at 8:00 and then the three of us snuggle in our bed for a little while (one of my favorite times of the day!). Then we all head downstairs. Colin and Abigail go into the playroom to drink milk, eat cereal and read LOTS of books, while I go into the kitchen to fix breakfast. Abigail cherishes this time with her daddy. Some mornings, she just can't get enough reading with her dear father and she brings him a book to read to her right before he heads out the door. I love watching the two of them together. So sweet! We are already ready for it to be the weekend so we can have him back home with us! We miss you, Daddy!!!

Playground Time!!

One of the best things about the warmer weather is going to the playground! We are at the playground almost every day, sometimes more than once. Abigail loves it!

One Year Later

One year ago, our sweet baby girl had open heart surgery. It was the scariest day in our lives. Certainly one we will never forget. I drove by the hospital this morning and it just gave me the weirdest feeling knowing that at that time, last year, we were clinging to our phones begging for news that our baby girl was ok. We just can't believe it has been a year. In some ways, it seems like forever ago. Yet both of us can remember everything like it was yesterday.

Here Abigail is, one year later...doing absolutely fantastic. She is growing like crazy and is just the happiest, silliest, sweetest little girl. She has changed SO much since her surgery. Abigail has her one year post op checkup on Tuesday so please keep us in your prayers! We are forever grateful to all of her doctors and all of our family and friends for all of the love and support you have given us. We are so incredibly blessed to have our little love in our lives. Happy 1 year, baby girl!! We love you more than anything in the whole wide world!!!

Beautiful Weather

Feels like summer and we're loving it!! We spent most of the weekend outdoors. We took her to one of the playgrounds down the street early Saturday morning. It was so nice to be able to play outside first thing in the morning and not have to wait for it to warm up!

We love the weekends because Daddy is home!! Yay!!!

We even ran into Abigail's friend, Claire, there!

Then Meme, Granddad, Uncle Jay and Auntie Anna stopped by to pick up Colin to go to the Nationals baseball game. It was great to see them, even if it was just for a bit! Abigail kept asking them to stay:(

Any weekend where we get to be together as a family AND outdoors is a fabulous one in our book!

Colin and Abigail are feeling MUCH better!! Thank you so much for everyone's kind words and well wishes! Even when Abigail is sick, she is still as cute as a button! We play this game where we say "Show me...." and we say an emotion/action and Abigail acts it out. She loves it! It's hilarious!

Something about April and the stomach flu at our house. First Colin, now Abigail:-( Hope our washing machine can keep up!!

Happy Easter!!

We hope everyone had a wonderful Easter! We had a very special Easter. We started off the day with a yummy breakfast followed by a fun Easter egg hunt. We did a similar hunt last year. We hid about 25 eggs. They were filled with 1 M&M, jelly bean, cheesy puff, bouncy ball, Easter stamp...she flew through them. Abigail LOVES eggs so finding eggs filled with candy and toys was super fun for her.

Around lunch time, Meme, Granddad, Uncle Jay, Nana and G-dad came over to spend the day with us. Abigail has been waiting for them all week. We told her they were coming over on Sunday so, of course, Abigail just couldn't wait and kept repeating that she wanted them to come over now!!

Today was such a special day. Colin and I can't help but think about this time last year. Two days after Easter, Abigail had open heart surgery. We were filled with such emotion. We tried so hard to enjoy the day, but we were just so scared. Now almost one year later, here we are...doing great...enjoying a beautiful day with our precious daughter and wonderful family. We are truly blessed. Happy Easter!!!
