Happy 1st Birthday, Abigail!!!

Our little baby is 1!!! We cannot believe it!!! One year ago today, Colin and I were watching Live With Kelly and Michael getting ready to be discharged from the hospital, when somebody decided they didn't want to stay in Mommy's tummy any more. Apparently somebody wanted to get their Christmas shopping done early:) Out came our little Miss Abigail Sophia at 10:31am and our lives have been changed for the better ever since. Right before surgery, the doctors kept warning us that Abigail may not cry right away or that it may be a quiet cry because her lungs might not be fully developed....ummmm...no....out came our little 5 pound Abigail kicking and screaming...we should've known then that our little Abadabs had quite a large personality:-) It is that same personality that makes Abigail well...Abigail.....sweet, hilarious, loving, adorable, wild, strong willed, silly, curious, adventurous, wondrous, cutey pie, persistent, determined, cuddly...our Little Love:-)

We love this face...This is her "I'm going to do something funny face....Are you watching me?!?"
"Aren't I silly?!?" She really is hilarious!!!
At one year, Abigail weighs 18lbs (23rd percentile) and is 28 3/4 inches tall (33rd percentile). Noggin is still going strong...coming in at 18 inches (93rd percentile)! Abigail is still in 6 month clothes and size 1-2 diapers. Abigail wears 9 month jammies because apparently she is pretty tall...the 6 month pajamas are way too short. You could pretty much fit two Abigails in the 9 month pajamas. They are huge width wise, but even those are pretty short for her. Luckily most of her other clothes don't have feet. Guess Abigail is tall and skinny just like her daddy:)
Look at that face! She is so proud of herself. You know inside she's like "Oh! There's my sister! I'm going to go say hi!"
Big news....Abigail took her first steps on Tuesday night!!! Two days before the big day! We have a walker on our hands, ladies and gentlemen!!! Colin and I were playing with her upstairs in her room right before bed time and she did it! Abigail even turned herself around 180 degrees and then took some more steps! She does best if she stands herself up and then starts walking rather then us standing her up and letting go. Such a big girl! Way to go, Abigail!!!

Abigail loves climbing the stairs. She goes up, gets to the top and wants to come back down and do it all over again. Oh the fun! She's a quick little one. One of her newest obsessions is the knob at the top of the railing. For some reason, she climbs up two steps and then fusses to reach that thing. She wants you to pick her up so she can hold onto the ball and then try and rip it off. Our destructive little girl:)

Abigail is still a pretty picky eater. Some of her favorites are now on the not so much side..probably because we've had to use them to hide her vitamins in the morning. Abigail still loves trying to eat everything we eat...we say trying because she'll reach out her hand for it and then if it is something she does not like, she is quick to smear it into her hands or toss it on the floor. We laugh because Abigail picks up everything that is on the floor and sticks it into her mouth...lint, dirt, paper....and she'll actually eat it if we aren't quick to get it out. But broccoli?!? Oh no!!!! "How could you, Mom and Dad?!?" Ha!
Abigail has tried a couple of foods that Colin and I were eating that we thought would be flops, but turns out she likes them....for instance...salt and vinegar chips and a lime. So bizarre! She didn't even make a face with the lime. She ate the whole slice! Right now Abigail's favorites are cheese sticks and grapes. She LOVES them. We have to cut up the grapes for for her.  You should see the face she makes when you show her the cheese stick....pure excitement! She kicks those feet around like crazy. It first started when Daddy shared some of his cheese stick with her and now she has her very own. Abigail likes to slowly peel back the wrapper as she eats the cheese stick, just like her daddy:) She also likes grilled cheese, graham crackers, peanut butter, oranges, teddy grahams, turkey, granola bars, goldfish, ice cream, gingerbread, cheerios (sometimes),puffs (sometimes).

Abigail also drinks water out of a sippy cup...two different kinds to be exact...one you tip upside down and one with a straw. She smiles every time. I think she feels like such a big girl:) Abigail also loves to drink out of a regular cup, but you have to be right there helping...otherwise, she'll dump the whole thing on her! Any suggestions on a sippy type cup that we could put my milk in that doesn't leak???

While Abigail is not always the best eater, she loves the utensils...spoons to be exact. Yes..you read it correctly....spoons. Abigail is obsessed with spoons. She'll carry one around all day if you let her, although she prefers two..one in each hand. She can walk, climb up stairs, crawl, etc...all while holding onto her favorite toy..spoons. We've done many of store trips with her spoons tagging along. We get quite a few looks:)
Do you see the spoon?!?
She also has this weird obsession with sinks. She loves to sit in them and play with all of the stuff in and around them. She'll make a beeline towards both of the sinks and stand under them and fuss until someone picks her up and puts her in there. And don't even THINK about redirecting her...no no no...she's too smart for that:)

Abigail is quite the little dare devil. She loves anything wild with a little big of danger. Swings...push her as high as she can go. She also loves for you to stop her on the way up and dangle her upside down. Abigail LOVES hide and seek. She'll chase Colin or I and one of us will hide and then jump out at her and yell boo! Most kids would cry at this...not our little Abadabs...she just laughs. She also loves it if you grab her arms and swing her back and forth between your legs or flip her upside down...you get the picture. We have a feeling she's going to be riding roller coasters when she's two!

Abigail is becoming more entertained with her toys and books. It will sometimes buy us a minute or two to get something done. She definitely has her favorites: her Feeling Fabulous and Princess books are her favorite books right now. AND they are not even music books. Crazy! She will deliberately go over to her toy box, search them out and bring them to you. So cute! Abigail also loves her monkey, ball, piano, The Very Hungry Caterpillar interactive book and, of course, her V-tech music book...just to name a few.

Abigail also loves playing in the office A LOT! It probably has something to do with the fact that her sister, Mia, sleeps in the chair in there a lot:) Abigail loves that chair! She'll grab onto the sides and go round and round in circles. Makes it extra fun when she gets to take her sister for a ride!

This is our new favorite game...."Mom and Dad work hard to clean the house for everyone to come and I help!".....Can't you see how Abigail is helping by taking out all of the paper shreds!!! Ha!

Abigail is definitely sleeping better. Shhhhhh!!! Don't say it too loud or she might hear you!!! Right now Abigail sleeps through the night some nights, and other nights she'll wake up a few times. It's about a 50/50 ratio right now. She seems to go on stretches of either good or bad. For some reason, it seems that when we give her my frozen milk she doesn't sleep well...maybe it's upsetting her tummy??? With fresh milk, she seems fine.We have a freezer full of frozen milk...ugh! Anyone else had these issues? If she sleeps through the night, she'll get around 10 hours of sleep...crazy talk, right?!? Quite a change from a little bit ago. Abigail takes 2 naps...one in the morning and one in the afternoon for about 1 hour each. The large bags under our eyes are slowly disappearing. Colin and I are nervous that they may come back any day, but for now we are thankful!!!

We cannot believe you are already one, baby girl!!! Where has the time gone?!? You are just the sweetest little girl in the entire world and, as one of your favorite books says, "We could not love you more!!!"

First Trip To Todai!

Daddy had the brilliant idea to go to Mommy's favorite restaurant for lunch. Go Daddy! Mommy is a regular there, but it was Abigail's first time....how exciting!!! Every baby needs a trip to a sushi restaurant before they turn 1, right?!? She did great! Daddy did too:)
Someone is having a great time:-)

Doesn't everyone bring their own spoon to a restaurant?!? More on the whole "spoon thing" in the next post:)

"Cheese!!!"

Eating some ice cream for dessert....yum!!!

"Yay me!!!"
You get a free meal on your birthday...so if we burn the turkey on Thanksgiving, we know where Abigail is going out to eat! Mommy won't be too far behind:-)

Someone Is Getting Ready To Walk

It could happen any day now. Abigail is SOOO close! Ever since Abigail has figured out how to walk holding onto our hands, she does it every second she can. Rarely is there a moment in our house where she (or us for that matter!) is sedentary. Abigail is either walking with our assistance or traveling holding onto furniture/various objects in the house. First it was us holding onto her with both hands, then both fingers, then one hand...now it is just her holding onto one finger. And she doesn't just walk...she RUNS! She is SOOO quick! Abigail charges for whatever or wherever she is after. She loves to chase us around the house. Abigail gets so excited and squeals with delight while she searches for us. So cute:) We've tried letting go and encouraging her to walk to and from Colin and I, but no luck so far. We think she realizes that she can get places so much quicker with our assistance that she is happy with us being her chauffeur for now.:-) She does this adorable little wave thing with her hand when she wants us to give her our finger to go walking. It's pretty much like she is saying "Come hither, Father/Mother. I am ready to be escorted!" :-)

The other day, Nanna said "Abigail climbed up three stairs." We thought Nanna meant with some assistance, but sure enough, we put Abigail on the stairs and up she climbed. The first day she climbed up a few steps and then took a break, climbed a few more, took a break...By the end of the next day, Abigail was climbing up the entire flight of stairs before you could blink your eyes. Of course, you have to stay right behind her because sometimes she'll just decide "Ok...I'm done..." and just let go or lean back. Makes us nervous!!!

In 10 days, we'll have a one year old on our hands.....yikes!!!!:-)

Exciting News!!!

Colin made partner!!! Yay!!! Abigail and I are SOOOO proud of him!!! No one is more deserving and we just couldn't be happier for him. We love you SOOO much, Colin aka Daddy:)
Speaking of work...it is become quite the sad site in our house when Colin leaves for work recently. He doesn't even have to start walking towards the door before Abigail knows what's about to happen and the tears begin to fall:( It breaks both of our hearts every time. Neither one of us wants to see him go:( Needless to say, when we hear the keys jingle in the lock, our eyes light up and we both rush for the door with smiles on all of our faces:)

Happy Halloween!!!

Abadabs's first Halloween! Yay! Abigail was a lady bug, courtesy of her BFFs, Avery and Samantha and her wonderful parents:) She looked adorable!

She wasn't such a fan of the antennas mommy and daddy worked so hard to make for her, but she seemed to love the costume.

Uncle Jay stayed a night with us. Yay! Abigail loves her Uncle Jay!!! How cute do they look?
Nanna spent the day with us hanging out and running errands. Abigail is a big Nanna fan. Every time she sees her, she gets a big smile on her face and then goes "running" to her.
This is pretty much how things go when Nanna is around!
Thankfully Nanna put on her "fashionable" sweater:-) She claims it was for Abigail and the kiddos...right.....

Gdad stopped by to visit and see Abigail all dressed up! I love the way she is looking at him...Awwwww.....
Nanna and Gdad manned the house while we went out trick-or-treating. We promised a few neighbors we would stop by so they could see Abigail all dressed up. And if we happened to get a couple more pieces of candy for mommy, so be it..hehe:-)
Hanging out with her daddy. Abigail LOVES her daddy:)

Don't you love how one of the pumpkins is pretty much just as big as Abigail???
Abigail had a great time trick-or-treating. We had 36 trick-or-treaters ourselves..not too bad seeing as though it was raining.

Aunty Anna and Uncle Kyle got Abigail these adorable pajamas...aren't they just perfect?!? Thank you, Aunty Anna and Uncle Kyle!!!
Doesn't every baby wear a bow right before they go to bed?!?
Abigail loves her new toy that Meme got her. Thank you, Meme!!!

We hope you all had a great Halloween!!!
