Happy 6 Months, Baby Girl!!!

It feels like we just wrote Abigail's 5 month post! Each month is going quicker than the last. I think we may wake up and she's going to be one.

At 6 months, Abigail is weighing in at 13 lbs  10oz (12th percentile...same as last time) and 25 inches tall (17th percentile...moving on up). Her beautiful noggin is still the biggest, coming in in the 79th percentile. Big brained little girl:) Unfortunately we had her 6th month check up today and she had to get 5 shots:( Not the birthday celebration we all were hoping for:( She is still in size 1 diapers (although we tend to use Kirkland's size 1-2 because they're cheaper). Abigail wears both 3 month and 6 month clothes, depending on the weather. Her 3 month clothes are for colder weather...6 month for warmer weather. We're loving the little rompers...so easy and incredibly cute!!! We're looking forward to bathing suit season (for her that is). She looks so cute and we think/hope she's going to love the water. If only it would stay warm on the weekends. Loving the warm weather during the week, but the weekends....not quite as nice. This weekend is supposed to be a scorcher so we're planning our first trip to our new pool...yay!!!

Abigail has been trying to sit up more and more. She mainly uses the Bumbo when she sits up, but sometimes she can sit up for a few seconds on her own. (Then she just topples over...doesn't seem to try and stop herself in the least...and then just lays there content as can be...it's pretty funny). She loves to sit up and read books and play with her toys. She always gets a big smile across her face when she sees her musical book or her Baby Einstein musical toy. Of course everything goes in the mouth...gotta taste it, right?!?

Speaking of tasting...Abigail tried solid food for the first time Memorial Day weekend!!! We decided on bananas. I ate so many bananas when I was pregnant that we figured she had to love them. We wouldn't exactly call it love at first bite, but she seemed to tolerate a few bites. We're trying sweet potatoes next...another family favorite:)

Abigail had her first of many trips to Lake Anna this past weekend for Memorial Day. We had a blast visiting with Grandma and G-dad and Meme, Granddad, and Uncle Jay came too! So fun! Unfortunately it was too cold to go in the water, but we all had such a wonderful time. We can't wait to go back!

Abigail still loves to be out and about. She loves strolls around the neighborhood, although sometimes she waits until we're about as far away from our house as possible before she starts getting fussy and wants to be picked up.:) She's fine as soon as we pick her up. She just wants to see what's going on. :)I don't blame her! I'm sure we look pretty amusing, though, carrying her and pushing an empty stroller.

 Abigail's favorite above everything else still is to be held. Abigail used to always look over your shoulder while you held her...then at the beginning of the month, she began to turning inwards. It's so cute...she brings her other arm forward and kinda leans in to really watch what you are doing. Eventually she gets tired of holding her big noggin up and she'll rest her head against your head...awwwww....it's the cutest:) Everyone always comments on how observant Abigail is. We definitely agree....especially if you're eating...she loves to watch you eat!

Abigail still has difficulty sleeping. Some days are better than others. Right now we're trying her laying on her side, in a bassinet with the changing table in it. Yes...you read it right. Can you tell we'll try almost anything?!? We've read 800 books. You'd think we'd be experts by now but unfortunately the only thing we're an expert on is reading sleeping books. I think Colin and I have just accepted that she is not the best sleeper and that we'll catch up on our sleep when she goes to college (well....then we have to worry about what she's getting into there....ok.....maybe we'll never sleep soundly again....we're ok with that....Abigail is well worth it :-))

One of the best, most sweetest sounds is Abigail's laugh. It'll definitely brighten your day. Abigail is super ticklish, especially on her tummy and feet. We could listen to her laugh for hours:)

Funny little girl...she'll put something on her face and then take her hands away and the object will just stay there...she'll wiggle her little arms and legs....it's so funny! Here the pacifier landed right on her nose!

Happy 6 months, Abigail!!! You are growing and changing more and more every day. Our favorite days are those we get to spend as a family. We love you sooooooo much!!! xoxo

Abigail is getting to be such a big girl! She's been getting better and better at sitting up. She would much rather be sitting up checking out all of the action than risk missing out:) Abigail has been quite into the Bumbo these days.

This book is Abigail's favorite. Thank you Brooke! We read it daily. Abigail is really big into anything that lights up and plays music, which this one does both. I think Colin and I sing it in our sleep:)

Happy Mother's Day!!!

Colin and I are so lucky to have the most incredible moms. They are true examples of the type of mom I want to be: kind, loving, patient...I think I could go on forever. Abigail just adores her grandmothers:)

 I've always wanted to be a mom. I remember always picturing what Mother's Day would actually be like when I became a mom. Last year I was about 7 1/2 weeks pregnant on Mother's Day. We hadn't told anyone yet. I just remember being so emotional thinking that the following year on Mother's Day my dreams would come true. (I know...being emotional while pregnant???? Crazy talk:))  I will say that being a mom is better than I could ever have imagined. I just LOVE being a mother to Abigail. She is so precious and such a joy to be around.

Colin went above and beyond to make my first Mother's Day special. It started on Friday when he came home with a BEAUTIFUL orchid (my favorite). Then on Sunday he fixed a delicious chocolate chip pancake breakfast followed by a lovely walk and a trip to Sweet Frog (Yum! Can you tell I have a sweet tooth?!?). It was just a perfect, relaxing day. Thank you, love!

Also, a big thank you to our moms for all you have done and continue to do for Colin, Abigail and I. You mean so much to us. We are truly blessed to have you both is our lives.

Are you ready for summer???

I know one girl that is:) (Her mama is too!) Isn't she the cutest ever??? Abigail has one other bathing suit....it's hot pink and white polka dots to match her mommy. Yes, I'm one of those moms.....:)  

Our weekend

We had another fabulous weekend with our beautiful daughter. While it was a little bit chillier than some of us would have liked (ME!), we were still able to get out and about with Abigail. On Saturday, we headed to Ashburn to go watch our nephew, Joshua, play football. But first we had to make a pit stop....we couldn't possibly go all of the way out to Ashburn without at least stopping by Ferrari of Washington first:) After that, we headed to the game. Joshua played GREAT and it was super fun to see Pat, Courtney and the kids.

On Sunday, the three of us went to a BMW, Porche, Mercedes car show. Two car related events in one weekend???....Abigail and I could hardly contain ourselves:) It was a little chilly on Sunday so we wanted to make sure Abigail was dressed warm. Colin thought this might be a little much. I had to disagree. I mean....how cute does she look?!? What do you think??? A little much???

Meeting the Cousins

This weekend Abigail met her cousins for the first time!!! We all got together to celebrate Pat and Courtney's birthdays. Happy Birthday, Pat and Courtney! Abigail has 6 wonderful cousins (so far.... another one is almost here!!!). We have been so excited about getting them together for so long!!! The day finally came and it was perfect:) We all had the best time, especially all of the cousins. I'd say it was love at first sight:)

Bailey was literally jumping out of her skin to hold Abigail. I don't think she could've been any more excited. It made us thrilled that SHE was so excited. Bailey immediately asked Courtney if they could adopt a baby. I'll give you one guess what Courtney said:) I told Bailey that she could "borrow" Abigail. Her reaction was priceless. That got the BIGGEST smile from her. Bailey immediately started making plans for where Abigail was going to sleep...next to her of course!.....if she only knew....:)

My sweet Rebekah. Abigail reminds me a lot of Rebekah when she was a baby...a little high maintenance:) Now all grown up, Rebekah has the sweetest disposition. We just hope Abigail continues to be like her cousin, Rebekah when she's older:)
