Happy 5 Months, Abigail!

This month has been SO much fun! Just like every month, there have been lots and lots of changes. This month seems to be a month of many firsts: first laugh, first grasping of objects, first walk in the neighborhood, first non-doctor related outing, first grocery store visit, first road trip, first play date, first time meeting her cousins, and now another one to add to the list....drum roll please....first roll over!!! Whew! That's a lot of firsts!

This month has been especially fun for the 3 of us, particularly because we are finally able to get outside. The weather has been gorgeous this month....thank you spring time! Abigail LOVES to be outside and just out and about in general. She tends to bore easily so being able to get out has been a life savor. Abigail enjoys riding in the car (except stop lights). She typically falls asleep, which is normally a good thing unless we're trying to keep her up...then it posses a bit of a problem...

Abigail weighs a little over 12 1/2 lbs now. She seems SO big to us, but when we compare her to other babies her age we realize how little she is. Abigail is still in 0-3 month clothing, but her pants are starting to fit a little snug in the length department. Being a naked baby is still her favorite. Ours too:)

Abigail still loves to be held above anything else, but she is perfectly happy to entertain herself for a good bit in the rock 'n play. She just has to be able to see you. This has been a nice change. We're actually able to get some things done....well sometimes.....

 Abigail smiles all the time. She has the prettiest smile and the cutest, little dimples.She is a very happy baby except when it's time to sleep. Sleep is still an issue. She HATES to sleep on her own. It's been a struggle, but we'll get there.

 Abigail is now showing an interest in toys and stuffed animals. She loves musical toys and things that light up. EVERYTHING goes in her mouth. We're guessing she's teething??? Abigail is starting to pay a little bit of attention when we read to her. She likes to "help" you turn the page:)

Abigail laughed for the first time this month! It was the cutest little laugh. Abigail doesn't laugh too often; you still have to work hard to earn a laugh but it is totally worth it. Apparently Abigail was pleased with her daddy's effort on Saturday because she was laughing hysterically over and over again (almost to the point of hiccups!). It was hilarious! We caught it on video but we have yet to figure out how to download it:( Still learning...

 Happy 5 months, Abigail! It's been another incredible month. Every day we're with you is so special. We love you SO much, baby girl:)

First Play Date:)

On Wednesday, Abigail and I ventured out of the house for our first play date!!! Yay! One of my best friends, Jaime, has two adorable little girls, Samantha and Avery. Samantha is 3 1/2 (she made sure to enunciate the half...very important at that age!) and Avery is almost 11 months. Jaime and I have been excited about getting the girls together for a while so we were so happy we finally made it happen.

Jaime was kind enough to host our little get together. It was SO much fun!!! The weather was gorgeous! It was so nice to be able to catch up and chat with her while our girls played (well...Samantha and Avery played...Abigail just kinda watched!). Jaime made a DELICIOUS lunch for the two of us. WAY better than my usual, boring lunch! I felt so spoiled! In typical baby fashion, the little ones started fussing as soon as we picked up our forks. (Doesn't it always seem this way?!?) While Jaime and I stood over the kitchen counter shoveling our food in our mouths, we couldn't help but laugh thinking about how much our lives have changed since high school when we first met. I know we would both most definitely say our changed for better. There is nothing like being a Mom. Best job in the world:)

We had a great time yesterday. Thank you so much for having us, Jaime! Can't wait to see you guys again very soon:)

First Road Trip

Abigail took her first road trip to Richmond to visit with family this past weekend. This was going to be the first time Abigail got to meet Nanny (great grandmother), Great Aunty Susan, and Great Uncle Joby. Yay! Excitingly, many other family members were able to come as well. We had been looking forward to this weekend forever! We headed off to Richmond early Saturday morning. Abigail couldn't wait!!!

Nanny is Colin's Grandmother. She is incredible! Nanny is exactly what you picture a grandmother to be. She's warm, sweet, loving, a WONDERFUL cook.....I could go on and on. We just love her so much and are so excited Abigail finally got to meet her. Abigail just adored her Nanny:)

Great Aunt Susan and Great Uncle Joby also came over to Meme's and Granddad's to meet Abigail for the first time. Aunty Susan and Miss Abigail really bonded. Abigail fell in love with Aunt Susan (of course)! How could she not?!?:) We didn't get a picture of Uncle Joby before he left:(

Meme's Visit

Abigail's wonderful Meme (aka Colin's Mom) came for a visit last week. Yay!!! We were all super excited. Not only is she so sweet and fun to be around, but she is SOOO helpful! Meme always jumps right in and does whatever we need her to do. She always asks "What would be most helpful to you?" During her visit, she helped take care of Miss Abigail, painted the office, cleaned, put together photo albums...I could go on and on. See what I mean.....so helpful! Not only is Meme a terrific grandmother, but she is also an incredible mother to both Colin and I. She is so easy to talk to. We could chat for hours (and trust me we did!). We love you Meme! Thank you soooo much for all of your help!!!

Out and About with Abigail

It has been BEAUTIFUL outside recently! Mid 70's most days and some days into the 80's! What perfect weather for a stroll with Miss Abigail. Abigail made her neighborhood debut last Monday and she absolutely LOVED it! Normally when Abigail gets in her car seat it means she's going to the doctor....not any more! It was nice to put her in her seat knowing she is not going to be poked and prodded. We took a stroll in the morning and another one in the evening. The motion is so soothing for her that she typically falls asleep about 5 minutes into the walk. On almost every walk we've run into a neighbor or two and Abigail just sits there contently while we chat (for over a half an hour!). Can you tell how much she enjoys being outside?!?

This past weekend was really nice as well. On Saturday, Colin and I took her to the annual Ferrari show at Reston Town Center. For those of you that don't know...Colin has been obsessed with Ferraris since he was little. They are his absolute favorite when it comes to cars.. Every year they have a car show and it's become tradition that Colin and I go every year. This year was most exciting because we got to bring Abigail along. We all had a great time and Colin loved explaining all of the cars to Abigail. She was completely intrigued:) Can't you tell?!?

Sunday was another fun day out and about with the little one. Abigail did GREAT! She definitely loves to be out and check out new scenery. It has been so nice to finally be OUT! Yay! Loving this weather! Keep the warm weather coming:)

Exciting milestones!

Exciting news....Abigail crossed 2 more milestones off her list!!! Last Tuesday April 9th, our sweet baby girl laughed for the first time!!! It was the sweetest sound! Abigail was sitting in her Rock 'n Play playing with Daddy when Colin asked me how my dinner was... I told him it was delicious. Colin then looked at Abigail and said "It was DELICIOUS" in a funny voice and she started cracking up. This, of course, made Colin and I laugh hysterically! I kept saying "Do it again. Do it again." and every time Abigail bursted out laughing. Yes, I know...definitely one of those "you had to be there" stories, but...We caught it on video, but we have yet to figure out how to download it to the computer:( It's super cute. Just like when Abigail started smiling, she doesn't laugh often. You have to do something pretty spectacular to "earn" a laugh, but when she does...it's definitely worth the effort:)

 Second milestone...Abigail can now grasp and hold objects. Before Abigail was able to grasp onto a few things such as hair (lucky me) and necklaces, but never onto toys, stuffed animals or other "baby type" items. She just never expressed an interest. Abigail, like most babies, is way more interested in interacting with us than she is with her toys. I think Colin and I are way more amused by her toys than she is! Last Wednesday, we were playing with her little stuffed animal elephant (it has a cute rattle on it) and I handed it to her and she held on! Now Abigail loves to hold her elephant, doggie and other stuffed animals and of course, stick them in her mouth. She especially loves to suck on their ears:)

Abigail also loves her musical toys. When I was pregnant, Abigail LOVED music! The church Colin and I go to has a large band and they play lots of fun music...Abigail would go crazy! She would kick and move all about. I always looked forward to Sundays with our little dancer:)

Random, but....some friends of ours gave us a Bumbo yesterday. I'm so excited! I hear the things are great. Abigail is still to young yo use it, but we just had to try it out! These pictures are just so cute we just had to share.

A Morning With Daddy

I have a wonderful hubby whom I love so very much. We had such a great weekend together and it was so sad to watch him walk out the door this morning, (Not to mention every work day morning!) He is SO good to me. As often as he can, Colin lets me have some time to myself  after Abigail gets up for her morning feed. Sometimes I go back to bed or take a shower... Anyone parent of a young child knows what a gift that is! Is he the best or what?!? I often wonder what they do together in the morning so Colin took some pictures with his phone. I thought they were adorable so I just had to share.
