Happy 4 Months, Baby Girl!

We can't believe that Abigail is 4 months old! What a difference a month makes! Sometimes it seems like she just got here, but overall we can't imagine our life without her. This last month has been a big one; lots and lots of changes and new developments.

The biggest change, we would say, is we finally have our happy baby back!!! Abigail is A LOT less fussy. We don't want to say it too loudly, but we think the colic may be on the way out. Shhhhhh!!!! Abigail is SO much happier!Yay! Before if Abigail was awake, most likely she was fussing. Now she pretty much cries for the typical reasons babies cry (hungry, tired, etc). We just love our happy baby! She is so much fun to be around.

Abigail is still, what Colin and I refer to as, high maintenance. She's definitely not a "chill" baby. If Abigail is awake, she likes to be on the go and entertained, which is totally fine with us. We'll take that any day over the crying. We are just so happy that SHE is happier. Abigail has the most adorable smile. It makes us melt every time:)

At 4 months Abigail weighs 11lbs 13.6oz and is about 22.5 inches tall. She is still in the 5th percentile for height and weight, which seems strange because she seems so big to us. We guess it's because she was so tiny when she was born. Abigail has the cutest chubby cheeks and buddha belly. Love it! G-dad calls her cheeks! So cute:)

Abigail has always loved her hands. For some reason she is just fascinated with them. She used to stare at them forever, but she has now discovered how to suck on them. Most of the time she uses both hands for this process....one hand to help guide and hold the hand in place and the other hand to put into the mouth. She tries to stick her ENTIRE hand in her mouth at once. Sometimes she is able to isolate her thumb, which is so sweet.  Abigail also makes this face when she first sticks her hand in her mouth like she just ate a lemon...but she keeps on going for it! We're hoping she'll start sucking on her hands to soothe her in the middle of the night instead of waking Mommy up:) Fat chance, right?

Abigail still sleeps in our room in her swing next to her mother. Last month we were able to turn the swing off after she fell asleep, but not so much this month. Abigail prefers to have the swing on, which is probably not the best habit...whatever gets her to sleep, right?!? Abigail gets into certain sleep patterns. Last week Abigail was waking up around 2:00 and 4:00 in the middle of the night just fussing a bit. This week, she wakes up around 4:00 and 6:00. We try not to pick her up until 7:00 or 7:30. I'll give her a pacifier (and she'll spit it out) and we play this fun little game for a while:) Sometimes she falls right back to sleep and other times it takes hours! Overall, though, her sleep is great! Can't really complain. She sleeps about 8-10 hours (although not completely continuous) at night.**Side note: Colin and I wrote this together over the weekend and that night Abigail was up ALL night! Can you say jinx?!?**

Nap time is still difficult for Abigail unless we're holding her. We do have her on a schedule, which is wonderful. So much easier to plan for the day! Abigail takes one short morning nap (or two if she didn't sleep much the night before), one long afternoon nap, and one very short evening nap. If she misses a nap, or one gets cut short, she has quite the meltdown but we hear that's pretty typical. We can't wait for the warm weather so we can go on walks. Bring on the Spring weather!

Much like her mother, Abigail is a talker. She has started cooing and seems so eager to carry on a conversation. We say a few words to her and, when we stop talking, she makes some sounds like she is trying to answer. She is usually pretty good about waiting to talk until we have stopped. Very polite, don't you think?!? I am sure she will be talking in no time.:) Abigail is also blowing bubbles, which we're sure is going to lead to more outfit changes throughout the day:)

Abigail still loves bath time...probably because she gets to be naked. She still loves being a naked baby (so funny) and she still hates getting dressed. We love our little naked baby:)

Abigail still loves to be held above everything else. She has a new favorite position to be carried in...holding her facing out. We think she likes this because she is better able to see everything. She loves to move her head side-to-side like she is watching a tennis match to make sure she is not missing any action. Gotta check everything out, right!?!:)Abigail has created quite the bald spot on the back of her head because she moves her head side-to-side so much. It seems to get bigger each day. It's going to grow back, right?!?

These past 4 months have been so special. We love watching Abigail grow and change each and every day. Colin and I could not be happier as parents. We love you so much, baby girl!!! Happy 4 Months!!!

Abigail's Nursery

We LOVE Abigail's nursery! It is one of our favorite rooms in the house....probably because it's so different from every other room in our house. We decided to go with hot pink and lime green as her colors (Colin was adamant about this....must be hot pink!!! haha:)).

We decided to go with white furniture and hot pink and lime green accents throughout. Our favorite piece of furniture in there has to be the La-Z-Boy. Best purchase! We have one in the nursery and one downstairs in the family room. They are the most comfortable chairs ever! We knew we would spend a lot of time in them but we never knew we would spend THIS much time. Makes getting up in the middle of the night a LITTLE easier....I said little.

Meme (Colin's wonderful Mommy) made Abigail's curtains. Aren't they the most beautiful things you've ever seen?!? They turned out absolutely perfect. Meme is incredibly talented. She has made all of the curtains in our home.  I can't wait for her to share all of her knowledge and talents with Miss Abigail....we know I won't be able to help her in the craft area.....

Abigail is obsessed with her curtains. In the mornings, she turns her head to specifically look at the curtains. I'm not sure if it's the color or the light coming through???....either way, she loves them. Thank you Meme!!!!

These are the shadow boxes (I think that's what they're called?) Grandma (my wonderful mommy) got her at the shower. Love these!!! They're hot pink and white striped on the outside and...yup....hot pink on the inside. Can you tell I like hot pink?!? Beautiful and functional! Thanks Grandma!
The blanket you see on the chair is hot pink on one side and lime green on the other. We got it on Etsy. Love that site!

Colin and I got this shelf at Target. We put her toys and books in them. I love that you can put a lot of toys and stuffed animals in the bins and it still looks nice and neat. I hate clutter!
You can see Abigail in the Britax carrier. Love this thing!
Hopefully Abigail loves hot pink as much as her mother does. Colin keeps asking what we're going to do if we have a boy next....boys like hot pink too, right?!?

Special Visitors

We had some wonderful visitors recently and I didn't take any pictures. UGH!!! Neither Colin or I have ever been good at taking pictures or capturing moments. We thought we had gotten better since Abigail was born, but apparently not:(

On Sunday, Aunt Maria came over to meet Abigail for the first time. Granddad happily volunteered to drive Maria up so he could see his precious granddaughter. Maria lives in Florida and was up for my sister-in-law's baby shower so it was a perfect time to come visit. We don't get to see her often enough. Abigail LOVED visiting with Maria and Granddad! And, of course, Colin and I loved seeing them and catching up with them as well. Thank you so much for coming, Granddad and Maria!!!We can't wait for the big, family beach trip!!!

On Monday, Abigail and I got to spend the day with two of my best friends, Jiliian and Heather. I went to Tennessee with the two of them and we lived together for 3 incredible years. I LOVE it that they are in the area. It was so nice to see them! We could have chatted for days. Thank you so much for coming to visit. Abigail adores you guys (and you know her mommy does as well:)). Can't wait to see you on our next Monday get together!
So sorry we didn't get any pictures with our visitors, but we did manage to take some of our adorable little one:)

Our little Volunteer:)

I went to the University of Tennessee, so naturally I am obsessed with anything Tennessee. When Abigail was born, two of my best friends (and former Tennessee roommates) showered Abigail with adorable Tennessee paraphernalia. Thank you Jillian and Heather!!! Recently some close family friends also got Abigail some cute Tennessee gear. Thank you John and Judy! We, of course, just had to show our school support. Abigail is definitely the cutest little cheerleader we know!!!
Hopefully she will bring our football team much better luck this year!

GO VOLS!!!
