At 3 months, Abigail weighs 10lbs 14oz. We don't know her current height because we don't go back to the pediatrician until she's 4 months old. Abigail can still fit into some of her newborn clothes (crazy, I know!) but she's into mostly 0-3 month clothes now. Abigail still wears newborn sized diapers but we think this may be the last box before we switch to size 1. Pampers seem to be the only brand that work for Miss Abigail. Every other brand seems to leak. Anyone else have this problem???
At around 6 weeks, Abigail got bitten by the colic bug pretty bad. Our once sleepy, quiet baby became awake, fussy, and quite loud! For weeks and weeks, unless she was sleeping (which became far and few between), Abigail would cry and it only got worse at night. Sometimes she would scream for four plus hours. It breaks our heart when she cries. If only we knew what was wrong or what she wanted, we would give it to her in a heartbeat. Apparently colic starts to fade around the 3 month mark (yay!), but because Abigail was born 4 weeks early, it may not start to fade until she's around 4 months (boo!).
Luckily, for the past couple of days Colin and I have noticed a big change in Abigail. She seems much happier! There are several times a day when she is awake and totally happy. She is smiling like crazy and seems like she might laugh any day (can't wait for that!).
We are finally on somewhat of a schedule, which I think is really helping. Her naps are getting more consistent along with her sleep at night. She is now sleeping in her swing at night (yes...we know...probably not the best place... but when you're desperate...) and she typically wakes up once to eat. Sometimes she'll fuss a couple of times throughout the night, but we try not to pick her up. She sleeps right next to me so I'll just try and soothe her from the bed. Sometimes the pacifier helps, but recently I started reaching for her hand and she grabs my hand and holds onto it real tight. This seems to calm her down pretty quickly. So sweet:) Abigail still has trouble napping on her own during the day. She will be totally asleep on Colin or I and then once you put her down....the eyes pop right open!
Abigail still LOVES being held the most, but sometimes she just likes to be on her own either in the Rock 'n Play, the Pack 'n Play, or one of her new favorites...the changing table. I don't know what it is about the changing table, but she loves it (most of the time). Sometimes at night when she's super fussy and we've tried everything else, Colin will put her on the changing table and carry her around. So funny:)
While Abigail loves the changing table she does not like to get dressed in the morning. She HATES it when we pull the shirt over her head. Who invented those things anyways?!? What baby likes that??? I think part of it is the fact that she doesn't want to put on clothes. She loves to be a naked baby:) So cute!
Abigail is still super active. If she's awake, most likely she's moving or squirming...our little Squirmy Wormy, as we like to say. Her arms and legs move like crazy and she flips her head back and forth. She moves so much that she has created this nice little bald spot on the back of her head. Stylish, right?!?
These three months have been so special and exciting. While sometimes challenging, we can't imagine anything better than spending time together as a family raising our beautiful, little girl. We love you so much, Abigail!!! We can't wait to see what exciting changes next month brings!
